Pretty as a Picture

There are times when people have come into my life and just stayed there in spite of not being in touch for years. And then when we meet, it's like the same cheery feeling of jubilation, of having lots of things to catch up on. One such friend has been Monmoromi Mahanta. I have even forgotten when I had first met her. 

Anyone who meets and interacts with Monmoromi will agree that she comes off as a wonderful human being whose nature warms the cockles of the heart. 

And Moromi is almost always found with her camera hanging from her neck and clicking passionately at most of the cultural functions if she is not speaking as an anchor with an equal passion at the Prag Studios, which is where her career in the electronic media has taken wings after juggling as a photo-journalist first at Northeast Times and then at Axomiya Pratidin. Her 3-year training in Shivanan Baruah's School of Photography has enhanced her love for the lens-works. 

So, when she invited me for her photo-exhibition at the State Art Gallery, I decided I had to go even though it was raining cats and dogs. 

What I saw at the gallery kept me enthralled, amazed, awestruck! Every photograph clicked by Monmoromi had this unspoken stillness in it, as if the dancers were about to break into the next movement only for Monmoromi's lenses! 

 Grace in every frame is what I would say, spoke in a reality, which was held together in a finesse unknown. As I moved around the hall, from one picture to the other, I could feel the warmth of Moromi's love for her passion in a feverish pitch.

.....and when I look at Monmoromi now, I always wonder that anything is possible if one thinks with the heart! She is the same happy, friendly, warm person whom I had met several years back! And she never complains I had not talked to her in a while but rather smiles and says, "Come over, let's talk over some coffee." 

And she signs off!
