IT for it to grow!

Belligerence has never held any affinity for the Congress. Rather they have believed in shaping the dreams of many a person, young and old, who have committed to their fold and who are also outside their fold. This deep-rooted empathy has had the propensity to have a never-say-die attitude towards positivity within the party and even otherwise.
So when the APCC organised the much needed IT & Social Media Workshop on the 22nd of September, 2013, there was the urge within each party person attending it to know more and hence perform. With day long deliberations on Information Technology and it’s power thereof, the workshop started off with an informative speech by the Chief Minister, Mr. Tarun Gogoi. He mentioned how important it is today to be in touch with cyber space. The state of Assam is far better developed in Information Technology than several other states. “But we should be careful from the attempts of mischief-makers who try to take advantage of this space to malign the government and misinterpret the developmental activities thereof,” he said. He was however positive that with the use of information technology, the state will go a long way to mould a future for the youth that they will be proud of. “The future lies with the young people. We have a lot of belief in them to make a future, an India our leader, Rajiv Gandhi had always dreamt of.” With the strength of IT, the State can do wonders in helping the country to forge ahead towards development.
After the positive deliberations by the Chief Minister of Assam, the President of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee, Mr. Bhubaneshwar Kalita and the Secretary, ICC Mr. Avinash Pandey, every participant in the auditorium looked forward to a training, which was to bring about a vast change in their inquisitive-about-technology-minds. Amidst loud applauses as the Chief Minister tweeted and the President APCC posted a message on Face book, the hall in unison looked forward to a day full of knowledge dissemination.
Young, strapping, positive-minded leaders took centre stage to present a world of information to participants, who were all the more hungry to learn the ropes. Kapil Gupta, Ranajit Mukherjee, Zuber Patel and Aseem Boral from the Digital and Social Media Cell of All India Congress Committee at Delhi captured the attention of the crowd with a poise and sophistication, which kept everyone rooted to their seats. Even the ones who are tech-savvy, heard wide-eyed to pieces of information they were never aware of in the past. For example, the type of false and malignant information the opposition used in cyber-space to get an edge over the ruling Congress. The ways in which the social media was being used to create negative impacts on various occasions could very well shake the cockles of any right thinking man, so we thought, as the four gentlemen on stage went onto show morphed pictures posted in social media sites to hype the position of the opposition.
But if we go back to history, we see that the Congress has always been a patient and zealous party. It has never looked back. Rather, it has tried to learn from its mistakes and then got on to doing constructive work for the country. It has patiently and ardently worked its way through the hearts of the common man and made a position of trust.

With the new look of the Indian National Congress’ website, which is still under construction, tech-savvy-cyber-space-addicts have a lot to look forward to in the coming months! Watch and wait!

CHILD FRIENDLY GUWAHATI

"If we are ever to have real peace in this World, we shall have to begin with the children" Gandhiji.

Each and every person present on the 14th of Sepetember, 2013 at the Rotary Multicentre in Guwahati became a part of a bigger dream of an initiative conceived by the Chairperson, Fr. V.M. Thomas of the Don Bosco Society, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Guwahati, the Archdiocese of Guwahati, State Government Allied Systems and other civil society groups of Guwahati.

Inauguration of the Child Friendly Guwahati Centre by the Chief Guest, the Chief Secretary of Assam, Mr. P.P.Verma, gave a new leash of life to the children adopted by the Don Bosco Society. These children, who dreamt of freedom to dream, were treated by children from the Don Bosco Institute, Jyotiniketan and some from amongst them to songs, dances, one-act plays and more. Each and every adult present hoped and committed themselves to make the dreams of these children picked off the streets real and tangible. We only hope we will be blessed by the touches of more such angels as we keep working and growing together!
